About Dorchester Gate Toll House.

It is thought to have been built for the Henley and Dorchester Turnpike Trust in 1815 and is in the form of a lodge cottage with protruding front. It is currently in use as an office & studio property, with only minor changes to the original tollhouse structure.

Its external features consist of a single-storey on a floor plan of canted bay front with two wings. It has a hip over bay roof, with walls mainly of brick. It is roofed in plain tile, with square headed windows and sliding sashes. There is no porch but a square headed doorway. It is a small building on stone plinth with a central brick chimney. The windows are in brick-arched recesses. It is a very well preserved little tollhouse, built with a weighing engine when the new bridge was constructed in 1820s.

The building is Listed Grade II.
