About Hebden Bridge Station

A fine stone built station dating from 1840, it was on the Manchester & Leeds Railway line over the Pennines. It later became part of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway system.

It is a remarkably complete example of an early station with its glazed platform awnings and fine stone buildings, but its main glory is the surprising collection of original station signs of all shapes and sizes. With its signal box it is a splendid period piece. It is especially well looked after as it has the benefit of an enthusiast group, the Friends of Hebden Bridge Station.

It is a Listed Grade II building.

By road: On A646 just east of the town centre.
