Small Chichester, Dell Quay and Fernhurst Turnpike Trust toll house
105 St Paul\'s Road, Chichester PO19 3DD
This charming little toll house is thought to have been built for the Chichester, Dell Quay and Fernhurst Turnpike Trust in the 19th century.
It was constructed in the form of a lodge cottage with protruding front. It is currently a domestic property and only minor changes to the original tollhouse structure have been made.
External features: single-storey on canted bay front with two wings floor plan, having a hipped, hip over bay, roof, with walls mainly of render, roofed in plain tile, Gothick arch headed windows with casements, no porch with a segmental arch headed doorway; small central brick chimney stack.
This cottage is set at an angle to the current road. The porch in the wing looks authentic so the Gothic window in the bay may also be. It was originally thatched. It is Listed Grade II.
