This structure is thought to have been built for the Macclesfield District of Sandon Turnpike Trust in 1780. It is in the form of a lodge cottage with protruding front.
External features consist of a single-storey witha canted bay front and one wing. There is a hipped, hip over bay, roof, with walls mainly of render. It is roofed in slate, has round arch headed windows with sliding sash, and there is no porch but a square headed doorway. It is on a corner site with a central brick chimney stack. The modern rendering obscures the original brick but the front porch survives on the bay. There are modern extensions to back and side.
