This single span bridge over the river Till, a tributary of the Tweed, dating from about 1500, is a scheduled Ancient Monument and is listed Grade I.

Visit websiteTwizel Bridge was probably built about 1500 AD. It is said to have been used by the English troops crossing the River Tweed on the way to the Battle of Flodden. It crosses the river Till which is a tributary of the Tweed.
It consists of a single 27 m.(90 ft.) arch springing from wide abutments and was the greatest single span of any bridge in England when it was built, and until the Causey Arch was built in the 18th century.(see entry).
The medieval bridge was slightly altered in the 18th century when the grounds of Twizel Castle were landscaped. The bridge was closed to vehicular traffic in 1983 and a modern road bridge was built alongside.
