It is the only survivor of the stations built in 1837 for the first trunk line into London and as such has historical interest.
It is tucked into the corner between the existing main line railway and the St Albans Road bridge on the east side of the railway. It serves as an office for a car hire firm and is approached up an un-named cul de sac off St Albans Road which leads to the London Midland Railway Club Association premises.
