The second Cookham Bridge was opened in 1867. This interesting structure is thought to have been built for the Bridge Company Turnpike Trust in 1870. It is in the form of a lodge house with angular front and octagonal plan.
External features: two-storeys on octagonal floor plan, having a pyramidal roof, with walls mainly of brick, roofed in slate, square headed windows with sliding sash; no porch with a square headed doorway; recessed panels with dentilated brickwork and central chimney, abutted to bridge. It rises from the riverbank to the level of the roadway at the bridge.
The building is Listed Grade II.
