Visit websiteThis attractive toll house is thought to have been built for the Honiton Turnpike Trust in the 19th century in the form of a lodge with crennelation. It is currently a domestic property with only minor changes to the original toll house structure.
External features; two-storeys on curved front floor plan, having a hipped roof, with walls mainly of render, roofed in slate, Gothick arch headed windows with tracery, an enclosed porch with a Gothick arch headed doorway; curved fronted folly with quatrefoil window over doorway. It is a charming and impressive tollhouse with large gothic windows, crennelation and a small porch at the front.
It is believed that the building originally had a copper roof, hence its name. It is Listed Grade II.
