Transport Digest back numbers for members

Published four times a year since 1983, Transport Digest is the official journal of National Transport Trust. It gives members a wide-ranging view of our transport heritage, embracing historical reminiscences, restoration projects and current operations in all transport modes.

New - for members only
You can now search for specific content within the Transport Digest magazine backnumbers as far back as issue 1 Spring 1983. Enter the keyword or several keywords you are seeking in the search box below and you will be shown which issues contain all those words on one page in any order. You will then be able to view the page containing those words and download that copy of the magazine.

Please enter your search keywords to find magazines

How to use Search

When you search for several words, it will search for pages which contain all those words on one page in any order (an AND search).

If searching a phrase, more than one word, please be aware that the search may yield separate words and rank them higher than your phrase. Thus ‘Great Northern Railway’ may appear a little further down the list than ‘Northern’ or ‘Railway’. The results will appear in reverse chronological order, the most recernt year first.

Search will look for both upper and lower case characters in the text irrespective of the case in which you enter the search keywords.

Search is looking for adjacent characters in one word, so if you search for car it will also find carriage, boxcar etc.

When searching for an organisation that has & in their name, search for the two names seperated by a space e.g. when searching for Somerset & Dorset  simply search for Somerset Dorset

Do not use any of these punctuation characters in a search & or or %

If you use any of these punctuation marks ) - ( : ; , . " ' ? ! @ £ $  it will treat them like any other character in a search.  It will look for that character together with the adjacent characters in your keyword. For example a search for Somerset. will only find mentions of Somerset followed by a full stop. A search for Land-Rover will only find that precise spelling.  Different results will be found by searching for Landrover than for Land Rover

When searching for large numbers, try searching with and without the "thousands seperator"  eg 250,000 is different from 250000

If you see unexpected results, check there is no space before the first search word and only one space between each search word

You can also browse the index of contents for each issue below and download PDF file copies.
Click on the "download" link below - this should initiate the download of that file to your device, it can then be viewed in Acrobat or other PDF reader.
