This is a superb restoration of a quirky 1930s aircraft, whose return to flight will help tell the story of attempts in the 1930s to popularise private flying through the availability of cheap, lightweight aircraft. This aircraft was built in Cambridgeshire under licence from Aeronca in Ohio, USA. This is a very substantial reconstruction. The aircraft was already a composite, having been rebuilt around the fuselage of a sister aircraft 1966. The original wing was destroyed in a 1969 crash: the wing now fitted is completely new, but an exact copy of and using recovered original metal fittings. The engine is an original JAP flat-twin, fitted with a modern carburettor for reliability and the propeller is a restored correct period item.
