Built in just 17 months in 1895, this 5-mile 3ft 6in (1067mm) gauge tramway uses the centre rail for emergency braking on the 1 in 12 gradient.

Built 1794-1811 for the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, 5.2 km in length, it is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the UK

Starcross Atmospheric Pumping Station 15/07/1905

Built 1846 by I.K. Brunel to provide 'atmospheric' (vacuum) traction for the South Devon Railway. Abandoned 1848 due to high running costs.
